Role of Attorney | Video Transcript

Denton Family Law Lawyers

Many times clients haven't had the opportunity where they themselves have had to hire an attorney before, so part of being a lawyer in a family law case is educating the client on what the attorney's role is.

The role of the attorney in a family law case at its most basic is to help the client to define what their goals are in the case and then to help them figure out the best way to achieve their overall goals.

Sometimes clients have unrealistic expectations, either because they are so overwhelmed with the anxiety and the emotion that their situation has caused for them or just because they haven't really thought about all of the options and the ways that the divorce may play out and may cause their life to look differently in the end.

So, as a family lawyer, you help be an agent of reality to the clients to get their goals and their expectations to a realistic level so that you can help them to achieve realistic goals.
